George Pindar County Modern Mixed School began life on Tuesday 17 th of April 1956 with 150 young people. Things have obviously moved on since then although we still have a close association with the Pindar family who support the college in many ways.

Our name is very important to us. We recently became a specialist Sports College. This does not mean that all our students are Olympic athletes, hockey players, netball stars or future Premiership football players. However, it does mean we encourage all our students to adopt a healthy life-style and develop some of the skills that make good sports people – teamwork, a willingness to help others, determination and the ability to take on responsibility and teach.

We are a true comprehensive school of 830 students taking the majority of students from Eastfield and the surrounding villages, although we do cater for students from Scarborough town and as far afield as Filey.

We also take very seriously our role as a community school. The College works extensively with students to ensure the College is a community in its own right. Beyond this we look to support and work with the Community we are a part of, particularly building strong relations with parents, youth and speaking organisations and local businesses.

The staff and students have worked very hard to develop GPCSC and make it a school for the 21 st Century and we believe we are well on our way to doing this by providing
